A worn out by a day of driving in New Zealand we decide to take a local recommendation and keep it simple with Pizza at The Cow. Stepping inside I’m immediately charmed by the exposed ceilings, the booths tucked along the walls and the sight of the open fireplace and we decide to relax and eat in rather than take away as per our original intentions.

Fleur’s Place is perched at the far end of Moeraki, and even the official website has the address as ‘At the Old Jetty’. We ended up driving around Moeraki twice before realising that we’d been staring at the restaurant all along, which in the end is exactly what Fleur wanted to create, a restaurant that didn’t jar with its settings.

After a long absence we finally see the return of the Soup Series! Some of you may remember seeing this recipe used at our Dinner for 6 a few months back. I recently stumbled across the recipe again and remembering how much I enjoyed making and eating this soup I felt the need to share.

A last minute invitiation from Melanie at Merivale saw a group of food bloggers huddled outside of Bistro CBD in honour of their 15 years in service. Merivale seems to be really stepping up their game this winter, firstly with their Winter Feasts menus and now Bistro CBD celebrations. Having never had the chance to eat at Bistro CBD before I was curious to see what their food would be like.

Sepia is located on the Northern end of Sussex St which does not attract a huge proportion of the CBD crowd on a Friday night, but judging by the packed house this evening it seems one of Sydney’s best kept dining secrets won’t be a secret for too much longer. There is a nice relaxed ambience when walking into Sepia despite the huge crowd as we were seated promptly by our waiter. You know your evening is off to a good start when the waiter is happy.

We all know what brunch is, but what about when you combine lunch and dinner together ? What was originally supposed to be a Sunday brunch today, ended up being a lunch/dinner as we didn’t start eating until 4pm. One thing led to another as people arrived late and we were just having a good time chatting and experimenting in the kitchen.

At some stage last year, we threw a small dinner party with a few friends of ours. We wanted something simple, requiring minimal cooking, leaving plenty of time for chatting and playing Guitar Hero. As it turned out, the cooking wasn’t so minimal and the boys (including me) spent more time in the lounge room than they did in the kitchen.

Despite being only a day since being semi-scolded by my fellow bloggers for the sheer abundance of Asian food related posts, I went out to eat… you guessed it, Japanese! That said, to my defense when you’re looking for dinner on a Thursday night in the Surry Hills area chances are fairly high that you’ll end up eating some type of asian food.
