Chogz and Nogz recently invited us over for a “home cooked” dinner, how could we say no to that ? What was suppose to be a dinner cooked by them, turned into a thee course meal with everyone involved. We all prepared a dish each before retiring on the coach for some Scene It on the Xbox 360. Not only did we spend 1/4 as much compared to if we ate out at a restaurant, we all had fun without breaking the bank.

White Trash Fast Food, Berlin (Germany)

In finding a restaurant to take me to, my cousin found a website that listed White Trash Fast Food as one of the Top 10 restaurants in Berlin. Its quirky name and even more quirkier (and cluttered) website (that announced dates of live acts and movies shown) reeled me in… okay, I have to confess that it was really the Chinese-style font used that cinched it, piquing my curiosity.

The Leaning Tower of Zumbo

The purpose of my recent visit was not to blog about this place, but to pick up a birthday cake for Linda. Due to the delivery guy being late, I had no choice but to do a little bit of window shopping in Zumbo’s cabinets. Well, that didn’t work out too well as I bought a few things to take home. I guess you can’t visit Adriano Zumbo without taking a few treats home, even if it’s one too many.

When I mentioned briefly about Homer Hudson Ice Cream in my Se Joung post, I didn’t acticipate so many closet fans of the brand. In fact, I think I received more comments about the Ice cream than the actual post itself! Naturally, I went out and bought all the flavours which were stocked at my local Woolies so I could see what else the fuss was about. I have only tried the cookies and cream version and it is pretty hard to beat. How do the rest stack up Homer ?

Intrigued by most people’s obsession for dipping fries into their thick shake or sundaes, I was inspired to create my own version, using creme brulee instead as the recipient for the crispy salted fries.

Getting the cake is more than often my responsibility for friends’ birthdays. Lindt cakes have been very popular in the past but with most of the cakes already indulged, demolished and tasted, it was time to find a cake from a different patisserie. But “where?” was the question.
With the current “hype” of Adriano Zumbo’s desserts amongst the foodbloggers, what other choice did I have other than to get a cake from him!

Cravings for Korean food can be easily sated by heading to Strathfield – the hard bit is to decide which restaurant to eat at. Thankfully, we chose rather quickly (our decisiveness was most likely due to our growling stomachs), but when presented with the menu, we fell back to our old ways.

Summer feast

I love the smell of summer. However, I don’t like the smell of people in summer. The great thing about this time of year is the easy excuse of throwing a bbq. We heard rumours on the information super highway that a few friends of ours were keen on trying out lamb on a spit, too easy. We rocked up at our local butcher and made an order 2 days before our scheduled bbq.

Boon is a great place to sit back, relax, and chat over a hot cup of chocolate; their service is exceptional and ever so cheerfully friendly. Though if you’re in a rush, they also take phone orders and will have your hot beverage ready to be picked up.

The variety in the degustation menu at Assiette was obviously thoroughly planned by chef Warren Turnbull, everything just goes well together, taking you on a journey with each flavour deepening the further you go into the courses, inviting each senses into a state of arousal with each developing course. For those wanting to give their tastebuds a great trip at minimal cost, I’d definitely reccommend Assiette.
