I started eatshowandtell in 2008, it was meant to be just a journal of where we ate. The first thing I usually do when I'm looking for a restaurant is check out eatability and the restaurant website. But what is usually missing is pictures of the food, how do I know I'm getting my money's worth ? This blog hopefully plugs that gap. As with most things, one thing leads to another and we are still going after 12 months. This blog will always be a hobby and thanks to Linda, Minh, Qing and Teresa we have managed to slowly improve it over time. Outside of this blog, I am totally obsessed with sport (especially Soccer). I support West Ham United and the Socceroos and play for a Club in the Winter season. Currently I am recovering from a total knee reconstruction, I tore my anterior cruciate ligament in April 2009. My camera gear is nothing special, it's just a Canon 450D with a Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens!

After a long day walking it was a relief to be able to kick back with some good food, good views and a good coffee. The food at Megalong tea room is honest and home made style rather than modern cafe style which you expect back in Sydney. As a result, it’s a great throwback to what country style food could be like. If I’m in the area, I’ll definitely come back as this sort of comfort food is exactly what you need after a long walk in the bush.

As I move into my mid 20’s, I’m finding that I am attending more and more weddings. I would of thought that the Gen Y’s would be slowing down with the marriage business, but it seems like some things never change over time. Recently I had the privilege of attending the wedding of a very close family friend of mine. They had the ceremony at the beautiful Balmoral beach and were fortunate for the rain to hold off.

I’d say it’s one of the best meals I’ve had in my life, but then again I’ve only really started eating Hatted and Michelin Starred food in the past two years, so what would I know ? But I must say, the thought process that must of went through the Chef’s mind for each dish is something to be admired. The effort in interpreting an idea such as a dessert into a savoury dish is something which I have rarely seen.

It’s funny how three out of my top five meals in this recent Japan trap were from non-Japanese restaurants. Picchu is certainly one of them, the fact that I traveled halfway around the world to Sapporo and spend a good ten minutes trying to find the place with the taxi driver and still walk out very happy with my meal is a testament to the food and the restaurant
