Malaysia Mondays – Road Tripping to Batu Caves and Melaka
Anyone who has been to Malaysia will know that while Kuala Lumpur is shiny, apart from shopping and eating there’s not a hell of a lot to do there. We decided early on in our planning to hire a van to drive us around Malaysia, road trip style!
Thanon Khao San, Haymarket
Minh and I walked past this restaurant a while ago and was drawn to its decor that was complete with a tuk-tuk! We agreed that we had to try it out, especially since the space was previously occupied by the pretty decent I-San.
Black Forest Cake, MasterChef recipe
Due to my current obsession with masterchef, it was only natural that the next thing I bake was another masterchef recipe. A couple of weeks back, we saw how by missing out two layers of ...
Malaysia Mondays – Kuala Lumpur Part 1
Welcome to the first of my Malaysia Mondays posts! Rather than subject everyone to a barrage of Malaysian posts I’ve decided to space them out a little and post weekly updates. Be warned the posts are heavy with text, an inappropriate amount of rambling and yes, a truly ridiculous amount of food.
Kazbah on Darling, Balmain (Round 2)

It set us back roughly $200, which is pretty good value considering it costs about $30/kg if you buy it pre-roasted from the Chinese barbecue stores. Not only is it fun, but you save a lot of money by roasting it yourself.
Tokonoma Shochu Bar & Lounge, Surry Hills
Right, so where do I start. I guess, Tokonoma for me is a breath of fresh air for decent modern/fusion Japanese or whatever you wan’t to call it. They nail it spot on in terms of service, ambience, design, food and drinks. It blends in perfectly with it’s sister store Toko on Crown st and is a great place to catch up with friends if you start a tab and not have to worry about the bill until the end.
