SIFF Let’s Do Lunch, Uccello
The first day of SIFF saw me head to Uccello for their Let’s do Lunch menu. During the month of October, participating restaurants offer a $35 menu with one main course plus coffee, and a glass of matching Brown Brothers wine, Coopers beer or a 500ml bottle of S.Pellegrino sparkling or Acqua Panna still mineral water, a great way to sample the menu of some great restaurants.
SIFF Nose-to-tail barbecue & Pyrmont Growers Market
The Growers Markets are always a favourite with the crowds but with the recent spate of terrible weather I expected the crowds to be slim to none. I couldn’t have been more wrong!
SIFF Let’s Do Lunch, est. Sydney
Our second Let’s Do Lunch was at est. I’ve never been, but I’ve heard lots of good things about it – including retaining its 3 chef’s hat this year while others have sadly lost theirs.
SIFF Sugar Hit, Perama
Each week David will select four different desserts which have proven popular throughout Perama’s last 16 years. If you want to sample what we had, get down to Perama before Thursday night, as he changes the dessert selection each week that day. I’m looking forward to the next Glykomezedes at Perama.
SIFF Let’s Do Lunch : Fix St James, Sydney
Sydney International Food Festival, or inevitably abbreviated to be known as SIFF, is finally here! With my going back to work next week in Chatswood – ever so far away from some of the Let’s Do Lunches I’ve got my eye on – I scoured the SIFF website trying to narrow my choices down to just two restaurants.
Yuzu, Pyrmont
Is it just me, but as soon as you’re required to return to one area day after day, Lunchtime goes from, ‘Oh what should I try today?’ to ‘Guess it’s back to good old Woolies!’. It’s gotten to the point that I suspect that not only does my local Thai joint recognise my voice on the phone, but just by looking at me when I come in to pick up my order they know instantly what it is. That said, when a faithful reader emailed us with recommendations in Pyrmont I gleefully dragged an unsuspecting co-worker with me to go check it out.
Don’s : The lunch, the relaunch and Matt Preston
Is don, is good. It’s a saying which single handedly defines the Dons brand. It’s up there with “gogo mobile” as one of a handful of long serving catch phrases in Australian language culture, used in all sorts of conversations and contexts. This afternoon I am at an intimate media lunch which celebrates the relaunching of Don.
