Etch, Sydney
My first glimpse of Etch and its food was on Herecomesthefood. I was impressed at how pretty it looked and the food! Oh the food… I really wanted to go, but real life got in the way and other restaurants somehow managed to jostle it further down my list. Until, that is, F found out that AMP employees get a discount at Etch and asked me if I’ve heard about it and wanted to go. Heck yeah! We spontaneously decided to book a reservation in for the next day. Yay!
Daring Baker’s Challenge, Vols Au Vent
The September 2009 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Steph of A Whisk and a Spoon. She chose the French treat, Vols-au-Vent based on the Puff Pastry recipe by Michel Richard from the cookbook Baking With Julia by Dorie Greenspan.
Waqu, Crows Nest
I caught up with my colleague soon after our Waqu dinner and we concluded that the Winter menu seemed a lot better than the hit-and-miss Spring menu. He slightly admonished me with an “I told you so!”, as he did say the Winter menu was really good. Oh well, next time!
Krrunching my way to Uniquely Singapore
It’s been a whirlwind of a day as the EST crew have been in shock since it was announced that our baby of a food blog was listed as a finalist in the first annual Nuffang Asia Pacific Blog Awards! The nomination came as an absolute shock to us and there may have been a little bit of screaming and keyboard denting in our various offices when we found out the news.
Simizu, Darlinghurst

Every month, my small group of high school friends try to meet up at least once, just to catch up on work and lack of social life. Trusting my judgement they delegated me the role of choosing the dining venue, suprise suprise, it was Japanese food.
Burger Battle, New Zealand Style
The second and final part of my two-part series of our eats in New Zealand’s beautiful South Island is a burger battle! In the ring we have the newly found (i.e. we just found it) Red Star Luxury Burgers challenging the old favourite Fergburger for the title of EST’s Burger Champion of New Zealand.
The Hub, Wanaka, New Zealand
A group of friends and I travelled to New Zealand’s South Island for a week of snowboarding in August. The resort that we stayed at boasted a pretty nice looking restaurant and going by our adage of “we’re overseas, we have to eat out at least once we booked in a dinner at The Hub.
