Adriano Zumbo, Birthday Cake

He’s handy with cakes as well

Who loves cake? :) I certainly do!

Getting the cake is more than often my responsibility for friends’ birthdays. Lindt cakes have been very popular in the past but with most of the cakes already indulged, demolished and tasted, it was time to find a cake from a different patisserie. But “where?” was the question.

With the current “hype” of Adriano Zumbo’s desserts amongst the foodbloggers, what other choice did I have other than to get a cake from him!

I called up on a sunday afternoon requesting the cake for friday night. Lucky I ordered early this time round as I always leave cake ordering to the last minute! I was rather surprised that I was given the choice to pick ANY of his desserts to be turned into a cake for 10-12 people. (Well not any… I just had to choose and him to say do-able or not do-able!)

They have choices of 6 (I think… or maybe it’s 4), 8 or 10 inch cakes. I ordered the 10 inch “Craigie Bam” as the two birthday girls ADORE chocolate (as much as every other female out there!). Boy was it more than enough. Actually WAY too much!

sooo… “Where’s the cake”, you ask?

Chocolate, chocolate and MORE chocolate. We were basically stuffed after our 5 bite! The cake was quite “heavy” and rich. There was more than enough chocolate in the cake but it was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Everyone loved each bite (even the waitress we gave a piece of cake to :P )! You could taste the different texture of each part of the cake. Each layer had its own chocolate flavour and texture. I personally loved the bottom layer – the thick chocolate. This sure satisfied my chocolate craving for a while!! (ok well, maybe just for a night…)

And a BIG Happy Birthday to my lovely two “family” members, Lizzie and Jenny :) ♥ you both very much!

MMMM Can’t wait for more Adriano to satisfy my sweet tooth! MMM! I loved this cake so much that I’ve made this my new cake store! (Stay tuned friends… another cake on it’s way this weekend!)

Imagine having a massive craigie bam! like that. I love eating the cake layer by layer as well; you get to savour the different flavours of sweet, salty, etc.

Oh a group sized Craigie Bam! Good call! I think I’d go for the 10 inch even there weren’t enough to technically finish it lol.

Wow, what delicious decadence! It is great that he custom makes each cake to order. Too bad he can’t make a giant macaron. lol!

What a great friend you are! The cake looks amazing (hehe of course I suppose, it is Zumbo after all). I’ve often thought of getting one huge cake but then greed takes over and I choose a selection of all of small cakes lol

Karen L: Just choose ANY cake. they are all delicious!

Arwen: The cake was SUPER chocolatey. But that’s not a bad thing!

belle: I didn’t taste any saltiness… maybe the sweetness was so strong it took out the salty flavour!

Miss Honey: The cake was MORE then enough for 10 ppl! get one so you can devour it for the next few days… :)

Helen: Maybe you should ask ;)

Lorraine: The big cakes are a good choice for birthday and special occasions. I think the smaller ones are good to satisfy the sweetness craving :P

Y: be greedy! Get a selection of big cakes!
