Sorry for the late responses!

Arwen: Apprently the auctions are open to the public again! I'll be sure to take some photos... If i can wake up that early!

Simon: Seafood is always plentiful there and for some reason the seafood fills me up really quickly! Must be all the waiting... and the peeling of the prawns :P

Helen: The fish markets is a great place to take tourists! Show people the awesome seafood that Sydney has to offer.

sydneyguyrojoe: mmm sashimi! Hope they had salmon because there's hardly any salmon sashimi in Japan! AND parking at the park across the road is good too. free and convenient! The park is a nice place for a picnic too!

Miss Honey: mm i could do with some salt and pepper squid right now too... mmm!

Lorraine: Our fish markets is a great day out! Eat lunch there then buy seafood for dinner too :)

Chris S: It's so hard to find parking especially on the weekends... AND it's very crowded. A nice picnic across the road is a top idea!

For the heated menu items, I think getting the nice seafood from the markets and walking over the road to the park is the best bet. The ruffians that eat on-site come straight from hell, as evidenced by their driving courtesy displayed while looking for a spot to part in the $2/hr carpark. (referring to most weekends).

The carpark definitely ruins the experience for me. Also note that free parking can be found across the road if you arrive/leave before 8am.
Getting some fresh seafood early, and getting the hell out of there is the best choice!

Thanks for the tips about having a picnic there! Although I never seem to make it there. It's such a different atmosphere there than at Tsukiji markets, much more relaxed.

yum! we love claudio's too. i always recommend the fish markets to tourists - you have an aquarium, pelican reserve and lunch venue all in the one spot :)

my favourite place to buy fresh oysters and prawns. your lunch looks yummo. prawns can actually be very filling so that's maybe why you felt full.

simon :-)

Did you read the funny article in the ABC offbeat news? The headline was: "Tuna-hugging tourists banned from Tokyo fish market".
