I love how the lounge bar of The Westin is laid out; we always get a table on the “outside”, where I personally love the whole feeling of “a building inside a building” (quoting Sam, as he’s pretty much hit the nail on the head with that description) – looking up at the soaring skylight framed by the rough sandstone walls and high arches never ceases to make me wonder what and how the GPO was like back in its heyday.
I had forgotten what the dessert was and when I first saw the dish being brought out, I got excited about the scoop of ice cream on top of the trifle. My disappointment was thick as my spoon cut through what I realised now was not ice cream, but in fact something like marshmallow in texture. Despite my initial disappointment, I quite liked the sweetness of the dessert and took turns alternating nibbles between the fairy floss and the filo pastry roll. Would have to say though, the filo pastry roll was the highlight of the dessert; perhaps it was because you get this burst of oat-y, almond flavour as you sink your teeth in the crunchy roll.
This was the last Sugar Hit we went to for Good Food Month and while there were a couple of slight disappointments, it was overall quite a fun and tasty experience. It’ll be interesting to see what the (and eat) Sugar Hits will be like next year!

It’s a shame Good Food Month is only once a year! I’ll be interested to see what it’s like next year when it becomes the new International Food Festival.

is it me or is a lot of your most is related to sweet things so far haha
lol my only excuse is that it was Good Food Month and we mainly went to the Sugar Hits!
Writing up a post for Quay now though – should be finished tonight – so look out for something (mostly) non-dessert-y from me soon ^_^
I love the turquiose leather tie in the background! So fierce!
I still can’t believe that they sold out when we were pretty much amongst the first to order. Ram’s friend was denied! Sugar Hits this year was a FAIL. Maybe not an EPIC fail but failed nonetheless!
Quay was a disaster of a meal…..take away 2 hats!
Aww poptart, the Sugar Hits this weren’t too bad. Sure, some of them could have been better, but they were still pretty nice =)
*sighs* Ah Quay… that wasn’t too bad either in hindsight… there were some pretty decent highlights – I thought so anyway haha. Post on Quay is scheduled to be up this Wednesday, hopefully ^_^
Four seasons is the only one that I would want to re-visit purely based on the dessert. Shangri-la and Observatory I’d revisit for the ambience, everywhere else was sadly a waste of time.
Based on our dinner at Quay it should have its title as restaurant of the year stripped!
[...] Slightly overwhelmed by the choices at hand of where to go for our Sugar Hit, I remembered that the Sugar Hit at The Westin last year was pretty decent and the wild rice pudding sounded really interesting. I can’t [...]
