Let’s Do Lunch : Aria, Circular Quay

Worthy of an ARIA nomination

Good Food Month is officially over for 2008, but fortunately we still have a few posts to go which captures what some of you may have missed out on this year. Once again, Aria shines through with it’s $35 deal of a main dish and a glass of wine with tea and coffee as well. I remember coming here last year and I was equally impressed.

Complimentary bread & butter

Fresh bread was provided for us with a generous serve of butter. The bread was thick and soft yet extremely crusty which is the way I like it, a great start to our lazy afternoon.

Roast barramundi fillet with gamberetti, pea and zucchini risotto

A larger than expected piece of barramundi fillet was presented on a bed of gamberetti, pea and zucchini risotto. The colours on this dish were fresh and vibrant and tasted as good as it looks. The barramundi had a salty and crispy exterior which was complimented nicely with the calmness of the risotto which tasted absolutely amazing. I often find risotto either too hard or too soft. On this occasion, it was just right.

Petit Fours (Pistachio and Almond Biscotti, Chocolate Caramel, Macadamia Nougart, and Carrot Cake)

Petit Fours (Pistachio and Almond Biscotti, Chocolate Caramel, Macadamia Nougart, and Carrot Cake)

Regardless of the time of the day it is always good to finish off a meal with some dessert. We ordered these delectable looking petit four’s for an extra $5 per person. My favourite was the chocolate caramel followed closely by the pistachio and almond biscotti. The nougat was incredibly soft with a generous portion of macadamia. The carrot cake unfortunately didn’t impress me as much as the latter, but you can only do so much with carrot cake right ?

We finished off Good Food Month with a fantastic meal at Aria, incredible good value for money as well. The view on that day was excellent as usual, it’s a shame that I had to go back to work in the afternoon.

Arwen : Yeah GFM is always good, but Summer is around the corner and that’s always a good time for outdoor food !

  4. Oh that looks fantastic, I’m envious – We were supposed to go to Aria for one of the Hats Off dinners, but an evil cough stopped us… =(

  5. Oooh at 10:54 this morning you’re making me really hungry! That barramundi looks great and so do the petit fours but I can’t help thinking “carrot cake at Aria, really?” Little squares of cake like that remind me buffet dessert items where they dissect a large sheet cake into bite sized portions.
