Sushi Hub, Cabramatta

Howard 19 May 2008 Japanese 20 Comments Print This Post Print This Post Email This Post Email This Post

Cabramatta can be considered the South East Asian food hub of Sydney. You will find delicious food from Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Cambodian / Laos to name a few. The one cuisine which has not made its mark in Cabramatta is Japanese and Korean.

Sushi Hub opened sometime in 2007 (perhaps even 2006). Tucked away between the ever popular Bread Top and Gloria Jeans, two chefs ply their trade in the art of sushi making.

  1. Hey, I love going here - it makes such a nice change, and it is right nest to Bread Top so you can get dessert as well.

  2. I noticed they actually have a sushi rolling machine there!

  3. … is that considered as not as authentic/cheating? lol

  4. The owner of this joint also owns the breadtop store there

  5. they should just use their hands like all japanese sushi chefs

the machine is just being lazy and cheating haha

  6. Too bad its not a “sushi train” type place, they got one in Canley Heights and that seems to be doing decent business.

Can i say i find Breadtop WAY overrated!!

  7. Sydneyguyrojoe : The one in Canley Heights looks like it has changed owners, there is a different sign!

In regards to breadtop, I prefer to shop at the smaller stores. Gotta support the small businesses :)

  8. WOW thats a new place and already a change of ownership, hmmm………..is that a bad sign?

  9. the machine they use is actually used to press rice. its quite authentic in japan as well, and helps keep everything even i guess. i personally prefer Breadtop though..delicious!

  10. OMG..i’ve been here like twice and i have to say for a place in cabra this place is pretty sheike! those chefs hand-make those cute little sushi sets..just cant get enough of their sushi!

damn..now im craving for sushi..thanks guys!

  11. Vee, sorry i just have to say again, Breadtop is so overrated, there isnt much inside there breads and its a little overpriced!!

  12. hey sydneyguyrojoe,

lol at your comment! i think its only expensive if you compare it to dodgy unhygienic bakeries. this is a franchise so i guess they might have to push the prices up maybe 20 cents more than other stores? have you tried the mini muffins? they’re only like 60 cents..thats cheap aye??

i dont think its “overrated” per se, i think a lot of people like it for their own reasons. they are buns after all so its gotta be simple.

  13. Vee i think as being a chinese guy, ive eaten at a lot of dodgy places!! haha so unhygienic bakeries dont worry me…………too much!! haha

mini muffins, oh you woman, liking cute small things!! haha do you like the normal size muffins? haha you should discriminate!! hehe

Ok some people like Breadtop,i admit they seem to do good business, but Vee, am i too suspcious and thinking you work there? i that why you are standing up for them? Maybe they give you a incentive like a free mini muffin whenver you say good things about them!! lol

  14. hey sydneyguyrojoe (again),

haha yeah i do like miniature things. rofls i wish i worked there..i wouldnt have to pay otherwise. probably get sick of it though aye? i think i’d be the only person that can speak proper english if i did..those girls need some english classes!

in the end i just like cake ok! dont care where as long as its nice and clean!

  15. Sushi place in Cabra?! Very interesting! And tasty looking… and hungry now… haha. I’d always wondered how a reasonably priced Jap place would fair in Cabramatta, considering all the other cheap food thats around the place.

As an aside, Howie - that Canley sushi place… They are new owners. A few of us actually play football with him… If you ever want an intro Howie, let me know! ;)

  16. Vee: can i ask, i use to know a Vee and he was a male, u male? ive been to japanese restaurants where the waiters cant speak english, thats when u know its authentic, but then again when they start speaking chinese……

Goofus: can i have some inside goss, your friend took over sushi hub so he can eat himself all day or was it a good business idea?

  17. Syd, I’m not sure what his reasoning was, but I’ll try and remember to ask him next time I see him. Don’t think he’d be there eating himself all day, as he sells cars for his day job (need a deal on a Honda? haha), but it sure wouldn’t be bad to have your lunch made for you the night before ^_^

  18. Hey goofus..are you sure you know the owner of sushi hub? cos i used to work @ breadtop and the bosses own sushi hub as well. none of them sell cars as a day job btw.

post their names so i know if you’re talking about the same people..yeah there is more than one owner so there you go.

  19. Lisa,

Sorry for the confusion - but I’m talking about the new sushi place in Canley Heights that Howie had mentioned! Can’t remember the name… something to do with a Panda? I know nothing of Sushi Hub, except what I’ve seen here =)

  20. The canley heights place has change owners and now called BIG PANDA, ive tried a little, it cost less but you get less but the quality seems to be the same!! Now i have to impossible task of dragging my friends there to eat………
